Ski Park City Utah

A vacation to ski Park City Utah is a terrific getaway.  Park City is known for its skiing and great snow.  Here in Utah we have the “greatest snow on earth”.  Lots of light, dry, fluffy powder that makes for the skiing of your dreams, on average 500 inches of it in a season!  That’s over 40 feet of snow!  We put that snow to good use at our winter resorts to bring you the best skiing and snowboarding available anywhere.

There are 3 local resorts in Park City; Park City Mountain Resort, The Canyons and Deer Valley.  In addition there are 4 more great resorts in the canyons of Salt Lake City; Alta and Snowbird in Little Cottonwood Canyon and Brighton and Solitude in Big Cottonwood Canyon.  All canyons with easy access from the interstate.  So you’re spoiled for choice when you ski Park City.

Each resort has something unique to offer.  They all have great skiing/boarding (except Alta and Deer Valley, they are skis only), but each offers a different flavor.

Park City Mountain Resort is located in Park City proper.  There’s even a lift in town that gives you access to the resort!  They’re easy to get to and cater both to local skiers and visitors with their different package deals.  They are the only Park City ski area that currently offers night skiing.   You may have seen them hosting the World Cup Opener in past years and known them as the resort where the US Olympic team trains.

The Canyons used to really cater to snowboarders and got a bit of a reputation of not really being for skiers.  That has changed as they have opened up a great deal of new terrain in the past couple of years.  They’ve kept and expanded their terrain parks for boarders and opened up a lot of new expert terrain as well.  The Canyons is located a little bit out of Park City itself, but is easily accessible by bus.  They also have their own “village” offering lodging, food, after ski activities, non-skier activities, etc.

Deer Valley is located on the other side of Park City, just a quick bus trip to the edge of town.  They are known for their impeccable grooming, I think they are still rated #1 in the US. If long, smooth groomed runs are your choice, this is the place for you.  They’ve also opened up new terrain in the last couple of years adding more expert terrain that’s not so groomed!  Deer Valley is also known for its luxury.  They really cater to their visitors in a way no other resort I’ve been at.  Ski valets meet you when you drive up to take your skis for you.  Deer Valley commonly attracts high profile politicians and media stars with their luxurious service and ski in/ski out accommodations.

Whichever resort you choose, you’ll have a great time when you ski Park City Utah.
